60 Years of Hotel Il Pellicano

One of the most iconic Italian hotels celebrates 60 years of unravashing glamour
Hotel Il Pellicano

This year, Hotel Il Pellicano celebrates its 60th anniversary, a milestone that honors six decades of effortless Italian glamour, impeccable service, and timeless charm.

What began in 1950 as a romantic hideaway created by Patsy Daszel and Michael Graham in a secluded Tuscan cove became a legend, drawing guests like Charlie Chaplin and European royalty. In 1979, the hotel was acquired by Roberto Sciò; today, his daughter Marie-Louise Sciò leads the brand as CEO and Creative Director, carrying forward its soul with contemporary flair.

Perched above the Mediterranean with just 50 rooms and suites, Il Pellicano remains a symbol of refined hospitality and natural beauty. To mark its anniversary, the hotel hosted a celebratory weekend on June 9, 2025, gathering longtime guests, creatives, and tastemakers to toast its enduring legacy.

The occasion also inspired exclusive collaborations: jewellery designer Francesca Amfitheatrof (former Louis Vuitton High Jewelry and Jewelry Director) partnered with ISSIMO to create The Mouth of Truth amulet, Highsnobiety co-designed a capsule collection blending youth culture with Italian coastal style, and ISSIMO launched a playful logo collection for devoted fans.

Il Pellicano is the crown jewel of Pellicano Hotels Italy, a collection that includes La Posta Vecchia and Mezzatorre, and now expands with La Suvera and La Badia, two storied estates being reimagined for a new era.

Under Marie-Louise Sciò’s vision, the brand continues to evolve, shaping not only beautiful places to stay, but a cultural legacy rooted in authenticity, artistry, and the timeless spirit of Italian living.
