L’Officiel Arabia embarked on an extraordinary journey to Doha, Qatar, curated by Visit Qatar ( the main arm of Qatar Tourism Authority). This bespoke experience showcased the country’s vibrant culture, unparalleled luxury, and the grandeur of its National Day festivities. Over three unforgettable days, we immersed ourselves in the rich heritage, architectural marvels, and warm hospitality that define this remarkable destination.
Our journey began at the ultra-luxurious Hamad International Airport, a gateway that epitomizes Qatar’s commitment to excellence. After a seamless arrival, we checked into The Ned Doha, a haven of sophistication nestled in the heart of the city. With its exquisite design and world-class amenities, the hotel set the tone for the indulgence to come.
Our exploration commenced at the Katara Cultural Village, a living tapestry of Qatar’s heritage and modern aspirations. Wandering through its picturesque avenues, we were captivated by the majestic Katara Amphitheater, the curated treasures of Katara Museums, and the curated luxury of Galeries Lafayette and 21 High Street.
Dinner at Feeh Al’Afia was a culinary revelation, where traditional Qatari dishes were reimagined with contemporary flair. The evening culminated in the enchanting Qatar Balloon Festival, where a kaleidoscope of illuminated hot air balloons painted the night sky, leaving us utterly mesmerized.
We began the next day with a sensory delight at Souq Waqif, a bustling marketplace brimming with vibrant colors, aromatic spices, and artisanal crafts. Breakfast at Shay Al Shamous offered an authentic taste of Qatari cuisine in a charming setting.
The afternoon took us to Darb Al Saai, the epicenter of National Day celebrations. Here, we engaged with interactive exhibits and cultural displays that offered a profound appreciation for Qatar’s storied past. As the day drew to a close, dinner at Hadiqa in The Ned provided an exquisite culinary experience, though the allure of Sora at the Park Hyatt was equally tempting.
Our final day began with a leisurely breakfast at The Ned, followed by a visit to Msheireb Downtown Doha. This innovative district seamlessly blends history with contemporary design, as exemplified by the Msheireb Museums and the Doha Design District.
Lunch at Jiwan, perched within the iconic National Museum of Qatar, was a feast for the senses, offering panoramic views of the city’s skyline. The museum itself was a journey through Qatar’s storied past and its ambitious vision for the future.Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, the National Museum of Qatar draws inspiration from and recreates the naturally occurring crystal formations known as the desert rose. Built around Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al-Thani’s original palace, and the seat of government for 25 years, the National Museum of Qatar gives voice to Qatar’s heritage whilst celebrating its future. As we departed for Hamad International Airport, we reflected on the myriad experiences that had left us enchanted.
