Close your eyes and you could almost be in Positano. For three luminous nights, TOTÓ, Downtown Dubai’s cinematic Italian dining destination, channelled the effortless vibes of an Amalfi summer. The experience was an intimate food and spirit journey curated by sommelier Matteo Amadei, where every course told stories of the southern coast.
The evening began in true Italian fashion: limoncello spritzes at sunset, the clinking of chilled glasses filled with Falanghina and Fiano, and the rhythm of live vocals by the lovely Ariana, TOTO Dubai’s resident singer.
On the plate, you could taste pure Amalfi inspiration; a delicate tris di tartare of tuna, salmon, and sea bream opens the journey, followed by a crisp pizza fritta layered with stracciatella and anchovy, simple and yet irresistibly Italian. The spaghetti al limone, tossed with parmesan and crowned with caviar, brought coastal luxury to the table, while the polpo alla Luciana, tender octopus in a rich tomato sauce, captured the warmth of a Neapolitan kitchen. A refreshing sorbetto al limone cleansed the palate before the finale, which was a pastiera napoletana, sweet with orange blossom and nostalgia.
The restaurant’s ambience was glowing with Amalfi accents baskets of lemons, flickering candlelight and that signature TOTÓ warmth, where every detail whispered of la dolce vita.
