Aldebaran is an olfactory journey inspired by the bright star Aldebaran in the Taurus constellation. Created by designer Marc-Antoine Barrois and perfumer Quentin Bisch, the scent captures both beauty and power, offering a guiding light in the darkness.
For Barrois, Aldebaran represents more than just a star. “Beside the Arabic name of the star discovered in the middle age (‘Al dabharan’), it is an imaginary perfumed star coming in the night to guide us throughout the darkness,” he says. This star, shining brightly, symbolizes guidance and hope, which are embodied in the fragrance itself. “It is my journey to share my eternal optimism and a light of optimism,” Barrois adds, reflecting the uplifting nature of Aldebaran.
The fragrance is built around the tuberose, known also as “the diva of white flowers”, a flower known for its intoxicating, narcotic scent. Its powerful presence in Aldebaran is balanced by the lightness of other floral notes, creating a composition that feels both sophisticated and modern. The tuberose, in all its glory, diffuses a strong, captivating fragrance, yet it remains beautifully refined, showcasing the harmony of power and delicacy.
Barrois’s background in fine arts and fashion is a key influence in his approach to perfumery. “I trained as an artist (studying fine arts in Tourcoing from the age of 10) before I became a fashion designer and a couturier,” he explains. His deep understanding of aesthetics and attention to detail carry over into his fragrance creations. As he notes, “Subtlety of small notes is part of what makes a fragrance so refined,” demonstrating the importance of balancing each ingredient to achieve a harmonious and elegant scent.
