Beneath the Surface: McQueen’s Manta Emerges

Alexander McQueen introduces its first campaign dedicated to the Manta bag, captured through the visionary lens of Tim Walker.

Alexander McQueen’s new campaign, centred on the Manta bag, is marking the house’s first focused exploration of the design. Shot by British photographer Tim Walker, the visuals unfold within a surreal aquatic setting, evoking the stillness and mystery of life beneath the ocean’s surface. The campaign channels a sense of quiet القوة, where nature’s beauty feels both distant and immediate.
The Manta draws its lineage from the iconic De Manta silhouette, first introduced in the Spring/Summer 2010 “Plato’s Atlantis” collection. That earlier design signalled a turning point for the brand, merging digital imagination with organic inspiration. This legacy continues here, with the Manta bag shaped by the fluid form of the manta ray, reinterpreted into a sharp, folded geometry.

Its sculptural structure reflects the brand’s enduring tension between nature and modernity; organic curves meeting urban precision. Designed for contemporary movement, the bag evolves beyond archive reference into a statement of present-day energy.

Available in black, red, and metallic gunmetal leather, and adorned with pearl, crystal, and chandelier chain charms, the Manta bag anchors a collection that blends craftsmanship with bold visual storytelling.
