Japanese brands Blue Blue and Stretch Fraise make their UK debut with a first-ever international pop-up at Harvey Nichols in London, marking a significant moment in the growing global appetite for Japanese heritage menswear and craftsmanship-led apparel. Both labels are part of Tokyo-based Seilin & Co., a company that has played a pivotal role in shaping Japan’s Ametora movement, an approach to menswear rooted in the reinterpretation of vintage Americana and Ivy League style through the lens of Japanese precision, material excellence, and artisanal know-how.

Founded in the 1980s, Blue Blue is synonymous with the pursuit of the perfect indigo. Its collections revolve around selvedge denim, slowly woven on antique shuttle looms in Okayama–Japan’s historic denim hub–and finished by hand in limited quantities. This meticulous process ensures not only durability but also a unique evolution of the fabric over time, as each garment develops its own patina with wear. The brand’s aesthetic blends rugged authenticity with refined construction, offering pieces such as trucker jackets, western shirts, and jeans designed to age beautifully.

Stretch Fraise, launched in 1995 as part of the Hollywood Ranch Market universe in Tokyo’s Daikanyama district, takes a different yet complementary approach. Focused on elevated essentials, the brand has built a cult following around its impeccably crafted T-shirts. Made from thick, subtly textured cotton, these garments are celebrated for their exceptional fit, longevity, and understated character, qualities that position them as everyday staples with enduring appeal.

Open until Summer 2026, the Harvey Nichols pop-up presents a curated selection of both brands’ key pieces, creating a space that reflects not only product, but also cultural exchange. This dialogue is further enhanced by rotating artworks from London-based artist Philip Mark Carter, reinforcing the connection between Japanese craftsmanship and contemporary creative expression.

With a strong celebrity following such as Kristen Stewart, Andrew Garfield, Glen Powell, and Cillian Murphy, Blue Blue and Stretch Fraise continue to gain international recognition. While the physical retail experience remains exclusive to London, both brands are available globally via Harvey Nichols’ online platform, extending their reach to a wider audience.

Together, they embody a vision of menswear where heritage is reinterpreted, and where time, material, and craftsmanship converge to define a quieter, more enduring form of luxury.
