Coach presented its Spring 2027 collection at NYFW in downtown New York City, marking the house's 85th anniversary with a runway that felt like an ode to everything the brand has built so far, and is still becoming.
"For Coach's 85th anniversary, I was thinking about memory and the way familiar things change as we live with them," said Creative Director Stuart Vevers. "We turned familiar Coach ideas inside out, exposed their construction, softened them and left traces of a celebration on them."
The collection draws on archetypes that have shaped Vevers's vision: the trench coat, leather jacket, tuxedo, bias-cut dress and Western boot, reimagined with slim, classical proportions and the softness of something long and lovingly worn. Outerwear arrives with inside-out constructions that reveal linings and internal structure, while garment-dyed, sun-faded heavyweight jersey gives traditional tailoring the feel of a cherished old hoodie.
Bias-cut dresses and skirts run as a continuous thread through the collection, appearing in repurposed garment-printed lining fabrics, overdyed georgette, repurposed denim, lamé and sequins. The palette moves from dove gray, soft brown and natural leather tones into periwinkle, powder pink, mint and reflective metallic finishes.
The anniversary celebration vibe was present throughout, with leather rubbed with gold and silver metallic foil, confetti worked into bags and shoes, glitter mixed with red nail polish to create cracked, hand-finished effects. Crowns, pointed hats, bows and birthday cards recreated in leather with the same craft given to the house's iconic bags.
New leather goods include the Turnlock Tote, inspired by a 1970 Coach design, the Inside-Out Brooklyn and a reworked Tabby in party finishes. Footwear introduces the Hudson sneaker alongside a slouchy Western boot, both finished with metallic rub-off, confetti and glitter treatments that feel entirely one-of-one.
For the finale, curtains rose to reveal student string musicians from UpBeat NYC performing as models were joined by voguing dancers and confetti fell across the room. Eighty-five years to applause, this is what a well-lived legacy sounds like.
