Fashion Weeks

Dolce&Gabbana x UNXD

DOLCE&GABBANA and UNXD are launching a digital wearable competition during Metaverse Fashion Week (MVFW) March 28th – 31st

During the second edition of the Metaverse Fashion Week, an event pioneered by UNXD and Decentraland, Dolce&Gabbana and UNXD will be presenting a digital design competition to spotlight emerging talent. The Future Rewind competition is the first of its kind, building a bridge between the physical craftsmanship of the traditional fashion world and the new medium of digital design. It aims to highlight young talent and support the endeavor of creating the future of the industry together. With this competition, Dolce&Gabbana and UNXD invite participants to take a deep dive into the Dolce&Gabbana universe and incorporate elements of the brand’s most iconic design elements into their submissions. The team will be looking for traces of the iconic Dolce&Gabbana prints: Leopardo, Zebra, the traditional Carretto Siciliano, Blu Mediterraneo, the famous DG Logo, and quintessential black Lace. To enter, each contestant will have to submit a minimum of 5, and maximum of 20 full digital looks, inspired by any one, or any combination of these iconic Dolce&Gabbana prints. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana will be personally involved in selecting the finalists, who will be able to showcase their creations at the dedicated Dolce&Gabbana space in Decentraland during Metaverse Fashion Week. Out of the selected finalists, a jury, which will include Mr. Dolce and Mr. Gabbana, alongside a public vote from the DGFamily NFT holders, will be involved in selecting the winning pieces. A final 15-20 pieces will be selected to create a digital wearable collection, co-branded with Dolce&Gabbana and airdropped exclusively as digital wearables to owners of the ‘DGFamily’ NFT collection.

The Future Rewind competition marks the first time a traditional luxury brand is empowering digital creators through direct and personal mentorship. Creating opportunities for an exchange of ideas and visions across multiple generations and mediums is incredibly important in continuing to explore the future together. During last year’s Metaverse Fashion Week, Dolce&Gabbana and UNXD pioneered the ‘Disco Drip’ collection, which has since also been airdropped to DGFamily holders, and can be worn as digital wearables in Decentraland. The competition, pioneered by Dolce&Gabbana, UNXD and Decentraland signifies a larger shift in the overall fashion landscape, where young designers are building and creating the future of fashion alongside legacy brands. The competition also supports the Neo division of Metaverse Fashion Week, a pioneering initiative designed to further the growth of the creator economy and empower the next generation of digital designers. The Decentraland Foundation is working with ten novel digital fashion designers to develop their work within the Web3 space. Part of the Future Rewind competition is to provide additional visibility to the creativity of these young designers through the Dolce&Gabbana media channels.
