During the fifth day of Milan Fashion Week, the runway of Dolce & Gabbana became a powerful statement about authenticity. Titled Identity, the Fall/Winter 2026/27 collection reflects on what it means to remain true to oneself in an industry often driven by constant reinvention.
Rather than looking back with nostalgia, the creative duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana reaffirm the brand’s aesthetic vocabulary, proving that identity can evolve without losing its essence. A voiceover opening the show declared, “This is not nostalgia. It is presence,” setting the tone for a collection rooted in heritage yet firmly anchored in the present.
Black dominates the runway, embodying strength and sensuality. Lace, one of the house’s most recognizable signatures, appears alongside precise tailoring inspired by the masculine wardrobe. Pinstriped suits, single-breasted jackets, and sharp double-breasted silhouettes coexist with corsetry and delicate embroidery, shaping the body through structured shoulders and defined waists.
The dialogue between masculine and feminine codes remains central to the Dolce & Gabbana aesthetic. Shirts and ties become instruments of seduction just as much as sheer lace and sculpted dresses, while faux-fur coats and baggy denim introduce a more relaxed, contemporary dimension to the collection.
One of the show’s most intriguing elements lies in the tailoring experiments. Several coats, jackets, and shirts appear constructed as if reversed, with lapels, necklines, and closures falling dramatically along the back. The effect is both playful and architectural, demonstrating the designers’ ability to reinterpret classic codes without compromising their identity.
The front row reflected the brand’s enduring cultural influence, with long-time muse Madonna in attendance alongside key figures from fashion and entertainment.
With Identity, Dolce & Gabbana reaffirm a simple yet powerful idea: in a rapidly changing fashion landscape, the most authentic form of luxury may simply be remaining unmistakably yourself.
