Stefania Digregorio, Founder of Etereo Discusses Capri-Inspired Collectible Design Collection Faraglioni with L’Officiel Arabia

The Italian studio Etereo presented its collectible design project "Faraglioni" at Nomad Circle, held from July 4-7, 2024, in Capri. The group of architects, founded by Mirko Sala Tenna and Stefania Digregorio, has always embraced the concept of "Collectible Design," understood as the innovative spirit and precise craftsmanship that are the hallmarks of their studio.

Each piece combines artistic creativity with functional sophistication, highlighting their dedication to pushing design boundaries. Their focus on creating custom works ensures that each creation is not only visually striking but also reflects their unwavering commitment to achieving design excellence.

Etereo introduced Faraglioni, a collection created for Nilufar Gallery in Milan and designed for the fourteenth edition of Nomad Circle, held at the Certosa di San Giacomo in Capri. The name Faraglioni is inspired by Capri's iconic rock formations, mirrored in the collection's forms and materials. The concept aims to infuse the essence of the sea into refined interiors, seamlessly blending art with design. Each piece in the collection tells a story of contrasts and harmony. The cast bronze legs, echoing the rugged rocks, support flowing glass tops that spread like the waves of the Mediterranean sea. This interplay creates a striking visual effect, with textures reminiscent of sea foam. The collection features a center-room table, a dining table, a coffee table, and two consoles, all embodying the spirit of Italian design and the natural grace of Capri’s Faraglioni.

For this reason, I met with Stefania Digregorio to gain a deeper understanding of this collection, which, although essential, encapsulates the inclusive and timeless spirit of the studio.

L’Officiel Arabia: How did your studio transition from architecture to collectible design, and what elements of your architectural background influenced this evolution?

Stefania Digregorio: Our studio originated in the fields of architecture and interior design, with a particular focus on the luxury sector. From the beginning, we concentrated on creating spaces that combine elegance, functionality, and refinement, working on high-profile projects with great attention to detail and a deep understanding of our clients' needs. The transition to collectible design was a natural evolution of this journey. After years of experience in designing exclusive environments, we developed a unique sensitivity to material quality, craftsmanship, and refined aesthetics. These principles guided us into the world of collectible design, allowing us to express our vision through unique pieces that not only furnish spaces but also tell a story and represent the pinnacle of craftsmanship and design. Each piece is the result of meticulous research and collaboration with master artisans, reflecting our dedication to quality and innovation.

L’OA: What was the inspiration behind the creation of the "Faraglioni" table, and what distinctive elements characterise this unique piece?

SD: The "Faraglioni" table was designed to bring the majesty of the sea into living spaces, inspired by the famous rock formations of Capri's Faraglioni. This unique piece tells a story of contrasts and harmonies, with bronze legs evoking the solidity of the rocks and glass surfaces that recall the fluidity of the sea. The distinctive texture, inspired by sea foam, adds depth and movement. To realise this vision, we selected premium materials and Italian craftsmanship: the bronze was crafted by a master artisan in Brianza, while the glass comes from the finest workshops in Venice. The result is a functional work of art that celebrates the beauty of nature and the excellence of Italian design.

In every project, we strive to choose the best materials and the most advanced techniques to ensure quality, aesthetics, and durability. Our approach to material selection begins with in-depth research, collaborating with trusted suppliers and artisans who share our passion for excellence and can offer exclusive, high-quality materials.
