Febal meets Zaha Hadid Architects

Febal ONDA-Zaha Hadid Architects

There is a moment, both in architecture and in nature, where form and movement merge. That’s where ONDA, the new collection by Febal Casa in collaboration with Zaha Hadid Architects, is born. ONDA is therefore a design manifesto, shaped by the transformative force of the sea and the shared vision of two entities that, despite different origins, speak the same language of innovation.

ONDA – Zaha Hadid Architects stems from a dialogue between the precise, industrial craftsmanship of Febal Casa and the fluid architectural vocabulary of the renowned studio founded by Zaha Hadid. It draws inspiration from the Adriatic coast, where the sea and horizon blur into an ever-shifting landscape. As Emanuel Colombini, President and Chief Design Officer of Colombini Group, explains: “We reinterpreted the gentle movement of the Adriatic waves as a living surface, capable of merging aesthetics and function. The waves ripple across the glass fronts like silent energy, creating a sense of motion that makes every surface unique.”

The collection is characterized by its innovative materials and refined craftsmanship: back-painted fused glass, shaped into wave crests, and three-dimensional textures that play with light to create changing depths and reflections. Everything is designed to offer a visual and tactile experience beyond practical function. “The transparency of the glass gives the doors a dynamic identity, while the detailing introduces an aesthetic in constant transformation,” adds Colombini. Here, materials become a design language that speaks a shared vision with Zaha Hadid Architects: that design should never be static but continuously evolving.

Patrik Schumacher, Principal Architect at the London-based studio, reinforces this notion stating that: “What we love about this project is realizing the dream which designers and artists had for a long time: to recreate the subtle beauty of nature.” ONDA is also a tribute to organic form, natural intelligence, and the type of beauty born from the balance between strength and lightness.

But ONDA – Zaha Hadid Architects is more than a collection, is in fact a strategic move in Febal Casa’s international growth plan. As Giovanni Battista Vacchi, CEO of Colombini Group, explains: “This collaboration with Zaha Hadid Architects redefines the relationship between design, architecture, and industrial production. With ONDA, we have introduced a distinctive architectural language into our production chain, creating an aesthetic icon and a strategic asset for the brand’s global positioning.”

The roadmap is clear: Febal Casa aims to strengthen its presence in high-potential European markets like France and Spain, while expanding further into strategic areas like the UAE, the APAC region, and especially the United States. In the U.S., where the brand already operates stores in Miami, Scottsdale, and Orange County, the goal is to open between 15 and 20 new locations by 2029.

ONDA – Zaha Hadid Architects also signals a new way of envisioning partnerships between industry and architecture as the merging of shared values. Among those values, “connection” is key: a connection between Italian craftsmanship and international design, between local identity and formal experimentation, between the functional and the symbolic.
