Some gourmands comfort, and then some gourmands provoke, and Insuline Safrine, the audacious creation by Première Peau, belongs decisively to the latter category: an excessive indulgence held in check by tension, elegance, and intent. It is a fragrance that interrogates the concept of desire in itself.
From the first moments, Insuline Safrine unfolds with a decadent surge of saffron liqueur, liquid and almost tactile, its leathery facets lending gravity to the sweetness that follows. This opening feels deliberately dramatic, setting the stage for a heart built around an unexpected yet irresistible fantasy: a Saint-Honoré pastry accord. Here, bitter almond essence, spun sugar, hazelnut, and Madagascar vanilla melt into a plush gourmand core, while orange blossom absolute introduces a luminous, almost ceremonial floral lift.
Spices-clove and cinnamon bark-thread through the composition, sharpening the sweetness and preventing it from slipping into predictability. The base settles into an addictive praline of Australian sandalwood, creamy yet structured, leaving behind a velvety trail that oscillates between indulgence and restraint. The result is a gourmand reimagined: refined and radical, comforting yet confrontational.
Composed by perfumer Claire Liégent, Insuline Safrine reflects Première Peau’s contemporary vision of perfumery. As founder Pierre Mergui explains, “We founded the brand just three months ago, and our goal is to create a contemporary approach to perfumery where individuality meets a sense of belonging. It took us more than 2 years to develop the entire project, but now we are very happy as the response has been super positive. With Insuline Safrine, we want to give a new approach to gourmand fragrances, thus reshaping, as we are doing with our bottles, the experience of perfumery.”
Insuline Safrine is a statement, inviting those who wear it to embrace innovation as a form of modern elegance.
