Koenigshof Munich

A New Expression of Timeless Luxury in the Heart of Bavaria

Where contemporary architecture meets Bavarian heritage, Koenigshof, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Munich, redefines the art of sophisticated urban hospitality. L’Officiel explores this remarkable address, from its exclusive private spa to an unforgettable evening at GRETA OTO.

Munich has long been celebrated for its fascinating blend of royal heritage, cultural sophistication and contemporary elegance. From its magnificent architecture and world-class museums to its luxury boutiques and celebrated culinary scene, the Bavarian capital effortlessly combines tradition with modernity. At the centre of this dynamic city stands Koenigshof, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Munich, an extraordinary destination that introduces a fresh perspective on luxury hospitality.

Located on the historic Karlsplatz, affectionately known as Stachus, Koenigshof occupies one of Munich’s most prestigious addresses. Following its opening in June 2024, the hotel marked The Luxury Collection’s debut in Germany, establishing a distinctive new landmark for discerning international travellers.Designed by internationally acclaimed architectural studio Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos, Koenigshof is a striking example of contemporary design seamlessly integrated into Munich’s historic surroundings.

Its impressive façade, characterised by sculptural forms, expansive glass surfaces and distinctive geometric elements, immediately captures attention. Yet beyond its architectural grandeur lies an atmosphere of warmth and understated sophistication. At the heart of the property, a spectacular 20-metre-high glass atrium creates a dramatic sense of openness, allowing natural light to illuminate the interiors. The hotel’s thoughtfully curated spaces combine rich textures, elegant furnishings and carefully selected artwork, reflecting Munich’s artistic and cultural identity.

Koenigshof offers 106 beautifully appointed rooms and suites, each designed as a peaceful sanctuary overlooking the energy of Munich.Floor-to-ceiling windows frame captivating city views, while warm wood finishes, muted colour palettes and luxurious fabrics create a calming residential atmosphere.Every detail reflects the hotel’s commitment to exceptional comfort, from premium Byredo bathroom amenities to thoughtfully selected contemporary furnishings and modern technology. For guests seeking the ultimate indulgence, the Presidential Suite represents the pinnacle of the Koenigshof experience. Spanning approximately 250 square metres across two levels, this exceptional accommodation combines generous living spaces with extraordinary views and exclusive wellness facilities.

One of the most memorable highlights of our visit was the opportunity to explore Koenigshof’s exclusive private spa, a secluded wellness retreat that takes the concept of personalised luxury to another level.Far removed from the bustling streets below, this intimate sanctuary offers an atmosphere of complete privacy and relaxation.Featuring a private swimming pool, sauna and dedicated relaxation spaces, the spa creates an exceptional setting in which to unwind while admiring panoramic views of Munich. The beautifully designed pool, equipped with massage jets and a counter-current system, combines wellness with sophisticated contemporary design. What makes the experience particularly special is its sense of exclusivity. Rather than following the traditional hotel spa concept, Koenigshof offers an environment where privacy, tranquillity and individual comfort take centre stage.

As evening descended over Munich, our experience continued at GRETA OTO, Koenigshof’s signature restaurant, located on the ninth floor.Offering spectacular views across the city’s rooftops, GRETA OTO introduces a vibrant culinary identity inspired by the flavours and traditions of Latin America.

Its elegant yet lively ambience creates an inviting setting for an intimate dinner or a fashionable evening with friends. The adjoining GRETA OTO Bar further enhances the experience with imaginative cocktails and a vibrant social atmosphere, while the rooftop terrace offers breathtaking views extending towards the Bavarian Alps on clear days.

Beyond its impressive architecture and exceptional dining experiences, Koenigshof distinguishes itself through a thoughtful approach to hospitality. The Green and The Gold, the hotel’s elegant third-floor lounges, offer welcoming spaces for relaxed conversations, afternoon refreshments and moments of quiet indulgence. Here, traditional Bavarian influences meet contemporary international tastes, with signature creations such as the Koenigshof tea and the hotel’s distinctive interpretation of the classic Bavarian Prinzregententorte.
