Loewe Fall Winter Publication Presents Chiara Mastroianni

Photographed by Fumiko Imano, the Japanese artist who cuts and pastes the print itself to magic herself up an imaginary twin, the new publication tells the story of Chiara Mastroianni pulling up to Paris’ Maison de l’UNESCO in a classic car.

Taking shelter amongst the concrete pillars under one of the building’s wings, the photographs capture Fumiko and Chiara, winner of the 2019 Cannes Un Certain Regard Best Performance award for her latest film On a Magical Night, shot against the vintage convertible. Chiara is dressed in a selection of key outerwear from the Fall Winter 2020 collection designed by Jonathan Anderson: military coats, one black and regally gilt-buttoned, another whose soft black and mocca napa leather belies its forbidding cut, and a grey, double-breasted regimental number with pleated shoulders. Chiara also wears an oversized tweed trench cloak with a raised collar, a billowing couture dress with a silk organza bow and a long crêpe satin dress with a trompe l’oeil shawl. All of which are accessorised with lacquered monochrome kitten heels adorned with a beaded flower motif, or boyish loafers, and the iconic Balloon bag and Flamenco clutch.

Having photographed herself and her imaginary twin alongside Saskia De Brauw, Liya Kebede, Amber Valletta, Kaia Gerber, Fei Fei Sun within the grounds of the UNESCO headquarters for LOEWE, Publication #32 with Chiara Mastroianni is Fumiko Imano’s sixth for the house. Art directed and designed by M/M (Paris) and styled by Benjamin Bruno, the Publication takes the form of a limited-edition clothbound volume issued in a limited-edition run of 1,200 hand-numbered copies.
