Joy Toledano creates jewelry like a magician does his tricks. Each piece of jewelry is designed just like a story to be told, a book to discover. The committed founder and designer is a graduate of the HRD School in Antwerp, and a diamond and precious stone specialist. Her creation process demonstrates a strong awareness of environmental issues.

Joy chose to work with ethical — “magical” as she likes to call them — diamonds: they are at the heart of her designs. Her conviction that the future of fine jewelry lies in this ethical approach led her to launch her first collections in the spring of 2021.

Joy Toledano, Jewelry Designer

The first chapter of this mysterious book takes us into the mad world of Lewis Carroll and his Alice stories. It showcases distinctive and unique 18K gold jewelry, handmade in France, which strength lies in a commitment to quality and in-depth expertise. All pieces are custom-made to order within three weeks, in order to ensure that the artisanal process is prioritized. The pieces bear evocative names like Sagesse (Wisdom), Illusion, Enchanteur (Enchanting) and Hasard (Chance), for a moment of poetic intensity that endures.

By using lab-grown diamonds, also known as synthetic diamonds, the designer wishes to promote a fair sourcing, carrying a promise, a commitment.

“Science has managed to reproduce the same process as that of nature by developing a diamond that is grown in a laboratory thanks to a method called HP-HT (High Pressure, High Temperature). The only difference between a mined diamond and a lab-grown diamond comes from their years of existence. One of them lies in the bowels of the earth, is millions of years old and obtained by means of a harmful extraction. The other is grown in a lab in a few weeks, which is a guarantee of traceability,” explains Toledano.

All creations are made using Fair-mined gold. “This certification label attests that the material comes from independent, responsible, artisanal and ethically managed mines.”

In keeping with its eco-responsible approach, MYSTERYJOY has its own jewelry boxes crafted. They are made of high quality wood that has been carefully selected and is FSC certified, an eco-label supported by major NGOs such as Greenpeace and the WWF. It ensures that the wood comes from responsibly and sustainably managed forests or plantations.
