Penhaligon’s Juniper Sling: Elegance Redefined

Step into a world of debonair elegance with Juniper Sling by Penhaligon’s—a fragrance as effervescent as a perfectly mixed gin and tonic. Inspired by the roaring twenties and the glamour of London’s Bright Young Things, this scent is a lively concoction of fresh juniper berries, rich spices, and a hint of sweetness. It invites you to indulge in a sensory journey where refinement meets boldness.

Penhaligon’s Juniper Sling opens with the brisk freshness of juniper, angelica, and cinnamon, while its heart reveals warm black pepper, cardamom, and leather. The scent settles into a sultry base of vetiver, amber, and brown sugar, offering depth and allure for the cooler months. Whether for an evening out or an intimate gathering, Juniper Sling delivers a charmingly cheeky olfactory experience, perfect for autumn’s arrival.

It was once upon a time. Not quite such a very long time ago. About 154 years. William was a barber. Penhaligon was his name. He had left behind his Cornish sea, took a train and before long was hanging the sign with his name above the new barber’s shop on Jermyn Street.

Penhaligon’s presents The Dandy, a woody celebration of whisky blended with mischief. Through glitter and smoke, we arrive, a mood of deep mischief from all sides, swaying in time to boots tap tapping.

Set aside all inhibitions, my friends, for when we descend the party shall never, ever, ever end. Glide by the visionaries, brush past the artists, loosen that tie ready to ruffle some feathers.

Leave lipstick on mirrors (and collars), sip golden brown liquor from crystal-cut tumblers underneath chandeliers.

Midnight strikes to the tune of the brass band, the trumpets and the sax a-shakin’ right through the glass. This is the Land of Jazz, you see, swinging to the rhythm of whisky, de-bop-be-de-doo-dop and bourbon beats.

Oh, how raucous we were in that den, where the spirits were high and the cocktails flowed. We floated through a glamorous haze towards the speakeasy stage in that place, The Dandy, where we call home... and we danced forever.

An eau de parfum paying homage to endless nights.

Let’s take it from the top. A perfectly aged whisky – straight from the oak barrel, a fine vintage for a dapper institution – with a twist: bergamot, of course, full of effervescent charm.

Raspberry glitters next to patchouli (you fruity thing), refreshed by cedrat with a syrupy finish – just how we like it. And now for the bass line: ambrox, oak, cedarwood and smoke.

If these walls could talk. Now, will you take another glass?

Nothing brings jubilance and joy like a crisp cocktail, wouldn’t you agree?

One loves to reminisce about endless summer days, lounging on the lawn, gossiping on the grass, glass in hand, sparkling, filled to the brim with one’s favourite drink.

For me? But gin, of course, effervescent and charismatic from the very first sip. A liquorous accompaniment to a picnic, that metamorphoses into a party.

The laughter tinkles, the bubbles fizzle, and the Estate roars to life in a non-typical transcendence of elegance to a peppery, juniper melody.

Let’s see that pep in your step, the one-two sip, crisp, the fresh twist of the hips. Life’s but a game of croquet, first past the post pours the next round.

Please, raise your glass. Juniper Sling is a crisp cocktail, a sparkling tribute to the Bright Young Things of the Roaring Twenties. At first, a burst of juniper berry tingles the tongue followed by a rush of cardamom and pepper. Brown sugar and cherry muddle together, an intoxicating finish to this vigorous scent. Anyone for one more?
