Flowwow's expert and florist business owner, Rufiya Zharapova, provides an exclusive insight into the floral artistry that transformed the Ambani wedding into a true spectacle.

The wedding décor was a vibrant tapestry of colours, reflecting the rich traditions of Indian weddings. Orange and red roses, symbols of auspiciousness and joy, took centre stage, beautifully complemented by hydrangeas and carnations. Hydrangeas represent abundance, blessings and devotion, hold a significant role in religious rituals and ceremonies. Light red carnations are often used to express admiration, but on the other hand, a dark red carnation represents deeper feelings of love and affection. Flowers were seamlessly integrated into every aspect of the wedding, from the grand hall to the bride's exquisite attire. The bride's hair was adorned with delicate rose and lotus buds, each flower carrying its own symbolic meaning. Red roses signify enduring love and passion, while the lotus embodies beauty, fertility, and eternity.

One of the brides outfits featured a unique and exquisite element: a custom yellow coloured dress by Indian designer Anamika Khanna was complemented by a phoolon ki chadar dupatta made of jasmine flowers. The dupatta reportedly had over 1000 tagar kalis and 90 genda flowers.

Event planner Preston Bailey, renowned for his visionary floral creations, transformed the wedding venue with over 60 exquisite floral animal sculptures that required more than 100,000 flowers to complete. These magnificent sculptures, each crafted from thousands of flowers, depicted monkeys, elephants, and tigers, adding a touch of whimsical charm to the festivities.

One of the halls was adorned with tuberose, a flower symbolising purity, peace, and new beginnings. Its delicate white blooms, often associated with protection from evil spirits, make an auspicious choice for weddings. Tuberoses delicate fragrance and long-lasting blooms ensured that the guests were enveloped in a soothing and enchanting aroma throughout the festivities.

Tips for Creating Your Own Wedding's Floral Magic :

If you're inspired by the Ambani wedding's floral extravagance and would like to use the floral symbolism and beauty into your own event, follow these valuable tips:

1. Define Your Event's Style: Begin by establishing the overall style and theme of your event. Will your event celebrate a specific season, a cultural heritage, or a personal passion? Identifying a theme will guide your colour palette and selection of flowers, along with overall décor choices.

2. Create a Mood Board: Don't underestimate the power of visualisation! Gather images and inspirations that reflect your vision for the event: flip through Pinterest and Instagram, bridal magazines, wedding blogs. Pay close attention to colour palettes in your collected images. Are you drawn to bold jewel tones like the Ambanis', or do you prefer a softer, more romantic colour scheme? This mood board will serve as a visual reference for you and your designers.

Explore Beyond Flowers: While flowers are undoubtedly the stars of the show, consider incorporating other decorative elements such as candles, chandeliers, draping, and sculptures to add depth and dimension to the décor. Strategic lighting (string or fairy lights, candles of various heights) can dramatically alter the ambience of your venue. And dont forget the little details: small touches like floral centrepieces for the guest book table, flower petals scattered on the aisle, or tiny flowers by the place cards can add a personal touch and tie your theme together beautifully.
