The “Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto” exhibition at the Power Station of Art in Shanghai

Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto continues its international tour at the Power Station of Art in Shanghai after its first international debut at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia, in 2021, followed by the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum in Tokyo, Japan, in 2022, and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, England, in 2023.

It was originally presented at the Palais Galliera, Fashion Museum of Paris, Paris Musées, late 2020.

This exhibition is the first retrospective devoted to the work of Gabrielle Chanel in China. It highlights the birth and evolution of her style, the characteristics of her work, the emergence of her codes and her contribution to the history of fashion. Drawn from the Patrimonies de CHANEL, the Palais Galliera, and various international museums and institutions as well as from private collections, this ensemble sheds a new light on the lasting influence of the couturière who transformed women’s style forever.

The Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto exhibition is co-organised by the Palais Galliera, Paris Musées and Power Station of Art with the support of CHANEL. The exhibition in Shanghai will be open to the public from July 12th, 2024 until November 24th, 2024.
