When Creativity Collaborates: Ladurée x Maison Matisse

French artistry has always danced to its own beats, and only few embody colour and form as poetically as Henri Matisse. This summer, Ladurée pays homage to the master of Fauvism in a collaboration with Maison Matisse that shows how beautifully creativity emerges when it collaborates.

Inspired by Matisse’s 1952 masterpiece La Perruche et la Sirène, Ladurée introduces a limited-edition macaron box that feels like holding a sliver of modern art history, with shades of cobalt blues, orange and Matisse’s iconic cut-outs reimagined to house the maison’s pastel patisserie gems. Inside, one can find a handwritten note from Matisse’s Jazz album reads, “There are flowers everywhere for those who want to see them.”

Executive Pastry Chef Julien Alvarez interprets this visual poetry into flavour, crafting a macaron layered with mandarin, clementine, yuzu, and vanilla, an ode to Matisse’s own love for citrus and vanilla. The Vanilla & Citrus Entremets combines shortbread biscuit, caramel, orange-clementine marmalade and silky vanilla cream into an edible composition.

True creativity rises when great minds meet, and the Ladurée x Maison Matisse collaboration is a charming reminder that art can be celebrated in every form, especially if it’s in the sweetness of a macaron.
