Starting the year with a new fragrance, Parfums de Marly, this February, unveils its latest creation, Valaya. Available at boutiques and e-shops across the Middle East, Valaya is a faceted trail that revisits 18th century heritage with elegance and modernity.
This sensual, cloud-like, and contemporary fragrance captures femininity in all its glory and is composed in collaboration with French perfumer Quentin Bisch. Sensuality is its most essential expression. Valaya recalls, upon contact with the skin, enclosed in an immaculate bottle, le secret; a secret petticoat ladies wore during the 18th century under their garments. Or the modernity of a white shirt worn directly against the skin that enhances without denaturing. Beyond the boundaries of artifice and ostentation, and beyond time, Valaya rouses an intimate sensation, a universal emotion, and a deep breath of mindfulness. Its short formula suggests the skin's texture, the smell of fresh cotton, and the radiance of a woman in full bloom.
True to the philosophy of Julien Sprecher, Parfums de Marly's founder and Artistic Director, Valaya presents itself as a unique play on codes, materials, and subtle contrasts. “Valaya evokes the sensation of cotton on the skin. It’s a cocoon-like perfume that is sensual and elegant, all at once. A white scent brimming with contrast, that’s delicate yet incredibly compelling,” said Julien Sprecher.
Using a blend of noble and natural ingredients, Valaya opens with hints of mandarin, a comforting note par excellence harvested in Italy through a meticulous extraction process. The result is a natural, juicy facet in its production and olfactory rendering. At its heart, the perfumer Quentin Bisch composed a minimalist, transparent bouquet around the orange blossom, enhanced by an elixir surreptitiously dosed with musk and placed atop the opulence of noble wood and vanilla. This musky, woody floral brings together a synergy of natural materials and innovative molecules. Rounding off the Valaya formula at its sensual base is ambrofix. Upon contact with the skin, this molecule gradually delivers warm facets of amber, a natural and biodegradable alternative. Traditionally extracted from the raw ingredient from clary sage, ambrofix is now obtained from sugarcane using a unique bioconversion process, the most sustainable method for this note, with optimal carbon efficiency and 100 times less soil required for production.
