Simone Rocha x Francesca Hayward: Siren

Simone Rocha has collaborated on the wardrobe for Francesca Hayward for her new short film Siren, as part of the Films.Dance series, premiering Monday 11th October.
Performed by: Francesca Hayward

Siren is a visual journey into Francesca Hayward’s relationship with ballet, drawing on her early experiences of the art form to create a contrastingly intimate yet voyeuristic experience for the viewer. In collaboration with choreographer Michael Montgomery and designer Simone Rocha, director Jess Kohl expertly crafts a hauntingly beautiful narrative that expresses the macabre origins of the ballets that captivated Francesca as a young child.

Styled by Robbie Spencer, composer Isobel Waller Bridge’s off kilter score immerses us further into Francesca’s inner world.

The series connects the perspectives of diverse artists from a range of disciplines, dance genres, abilities, and experiences. Launching its second round of 15 original films, the work features more than 250 artists from over 25 countries all shot during the course of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The film premieres on the website www.films.dance/siren and also the Films.Dance social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, Vimeo).
